The Edwin J. Wadas Foundation Announces $250,000.00 Game Changer Grant Winner

(November 16, 2023- NEW YORK MILLS, NY) – The Edwin J. Wadas Foundation has announced that Westmoreland Little League has won the $250,000.00 Game Changer Grant.

The Game Changer Grant is a competitive grant created for the purpose of enhancing the joy of recreational and competitive youth sports. The Westmoreland Little League in conjunction with the Town of Westmoreland, and support of the Edwin J. Wadas Foundation will build a new youth sports park at the former Lowell Fireman’s Field.  The new site includes a baseball field and a softball field. Each field will have its own backstop, fence, scoreboard, dugouts, bleachers, and signage.  The complex will have access to a shared storage unit that includes a concession stand to help the programs fund the baseball and softball programs.

The new fields will provide an opportunity for baseball and softball to be taught with a focus of learning a love of the games, sportsmanship, respect for opponents and officials, and the value of hard work. “We are so excited to see the transformation of this space and the opportunities it will provide to children in our area for years to come.” stated Victoria Cataldo, Executive Director of the Edwin J. Wadas Foundation.

The Foundation also announced seven other community grant winners that evening, committing to fund an additional $471,530.88 for projects located in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
